A new mural has given some colour to the area - with the help of an internationally recognised street artist.
The mural was painted on the back of the Asmuss building bordering the Owhiti Urupa on Seaview Road and was a collaboration between the Association, Waiwhetu Marae and Asmuss.
Planning for the mural started in August last year however the availability of New Zealand artist Mr G, aka Graham Hoete ramped things up to a two week deadline. The mural itself is the habour view looking out from Seaview, and features the whakatauki, or local proverb of the Marae - Arohanui Ki Te Tangata "goodwill to all people".
In addition to the artist, the mural was created with the help of volunteers from the marae and some up and coming local artists who used the opportunity as a learning experience.
The paint for this project was kindly donated by local business Dulux.
